Evelia (Garcia) Sowash

Raised in the Miami Valley, Evelia has always identified herself as an artist. At age 11, she was awarded a scholarship to attend adult art classes from the Dayton Art Institute. Later, she graduated from The American Academy of Art in Chicago and embarked on a commercial art career.

During her commercial art career, her work for Antioch Publishing appeared on bookmarks, journals and other related items. These products were successfully sold nationally at stores such as Barnes & Noble, WalMart, Target and Borders.

In 2007, after twenty years in the commercial art field, Evelia decided to focus on her fine art skills and formed her own company, Evelia Designs. She and her agent at Out Of The Blue Licensing in Sarasota, Florida, creates artwork that has been licensed and purchased throughout the World.

Her influences are many. Among them are early Chinese and Japanese prints, Impressionism.
